Der Tot seiner geliebten Caroline verfolgte ihn bis tief in die Nacht hinein. Holmes befand, dass es an der Zeit war, Watson mit seinen Erlebnissen zu konfrontieren, damit dieser endlich mit dem Mord an seiner Frau abschließen konnte.

Bevor Harst und Schraut ihre Reise nach Nagpur fortsetzen können, erhalten die beiden Männer eine geheimnisvolle, große Kiste zugestellt. Sie öffnen diese und schrecken entsetzt zurück.
