主人公の少女は、雪の夜に義理の姉に渡す届け物を、雪の降る道で無くしてしまうのだが・・・。
太宰にしては、やさしく暖かく、心を穏やかにする短編作品。又作品の中に出てくる水夫のエピソードは太宰自身が気に入ったらしく、随筆『一つの約束』でも紹介している。
太宰 治（だざい おさむ、青森県生まれ、1909年 - 1948年）。27歳の時、短編集『晩年』でデビューする。代表作として、『走れメロス』『斜陽』『人間失格』などがある。1948年（昭和23年）に入水自殺。(P) 2013 MBS
