Excellent neutral narration on Islamic History

I was looking for brief Islamic background and wanted to understand the differences between capitalist democratic world vs highly motivated fundamentalist Islamic world where they are refusing to adapt or rather rejecting the modern Western culture ...This book has solved the most of the questions related to Islam in a neutral narration in excellent voice
