About this listen

For more than 4,000 years, the people of India have looked to Ayurveda as a pathway to vibrant health and increased longevity. This ancient healing science is treasured as a gift from the Vedas (the world's oldest sacred texts). Ayurveda offers all people a practical way to achieve self-realization, a way that is based not on constantly changing data but on the eternal forces of the universe.

In Ayurveda, you will learn how to apply this fascinating system for total wellness to your own life. Your personal instructor in this audio study course is Dr. Vasant Lad, founder of the Ayurvedic Institute in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Drawing from his work in both India and America, Dr. Lad leads you to a clear understanding of Ayurveda and its life-enhancing powers. You will learn to see your mind, body, and spirit as a microcosm of the universe itself. The five elements present in all matter also exist in each individual. By learning the cosmic laws that govern these elements, you can strengthen and energize yourself - effectively and naturally.

From principles of self-healing and proper food combinations to the cosmic laws that unite all consciousness, Ayurveda makes it easy to explore this ancient healing art.

A must read if you are interested in Ayurveda

Excellent narration. Slow paced but very informative. This was not my first Ayurveda book yet there was new information in it I didn't know.

Atomic bomb, opening different dimension of life.

A small book explaining ayurvedic approach to balance thoughts, relations, energies together balancing life.

The author/speaker is so composed, calm and knowledgeable. Found it difficult to finish as i would play episodes again n again to get deeper understandings. Goes in my "repeat reading" list... must listen

Half knowledge is bad

"Ayurveda" begins on a promising note, offering insightful information on ancient healing practices and holistic wellness. However, the book takes a sharp downturn after the fourth or fifth chapter, with a noticeable decline in quality and coherence.

One of the major issues that arise is the oversimplification of Ayurvedic principles, particularly in relation to doshas. The author fails to acknowledge the complexity of individual constitutions, reducing them to a single dosha classification. This oversimplification undermines the depth and richness of Ayurvedic philosophy.

Furthermore, the audiobook delves into controversial topics such as predicting the sex of a child based on breathing patterns during pregnancy. This inclusion detracts from the credibility of the material and may alienate listeners seeking reliable information on Ayurveda.

Had the audiobook refrained from delving into contentious subjects like childbirth preferences, it could have remained a valuable resource on Ayurvedic principles and practices. Unfortunately, these misguided inclusions overshadow the book's potential and detract from its overall value.

In conclusion, while "Ayurveda" offers some initial insights into ancient healing traditions, its descent into controversial and oversimplified territory diminishes its credibility and usefulness as a comprehensive guide to Ayurvedic principles.

"Ayurveda" starts strong but ultimately falls short due to a decline in quality, oversimplification of complex concepts, and inclusion of controversial topics. As a result, listeners may find themselves disappointed by the book's shortcomings.
