About this listen

What can history's greatest breakthroughs in science and technology teach us about the future?

New Thinking: The world has never been so unstable. Now, more than ever, we need to understand our history, learn from our mistakes, and embrace science and technology as we push into the future. In his debut book, New Thinking: The Technology and Science That Transformed Our World, Dagogo Altraide of YouTube's ColdFusion breaks down the history of gamechanger breakthroughs in the world of science and technology that have shaped our modern world and will impact the future.

Disruptive technology and innovation: The Industrial Revolution was the most significant event in human history since the domestication of animals and plants, leading to 50 years of growth and development making the western world almost unrecognizable. Today another revolution is taking place, and at its core is disruptive technology and innovation. It's clear that the pace of technology is increasing rapidly, and in the past 100 years, there has been more change due to disruptive technology than we could have ever imagined. The pace of this disruptive technology revolution is swift, almost exponential, but what's the story behind it? What were those special moments in time that changed the future forever?

From the steam engine revolution to the electric world of Tesla, the first photograph to the invention of the internet, this book explores the hidden secrets of science and technology to help us understand each gamechanger that has shaped the future.

In New Thinking: The Technology and Science That Transformed Our World, you will delight in learning about and appreciate:

  • How a technology can spawn a new technology and how they influence each other
  • How our modern world came to be
  • Our incredible modern world and potential for the future

Excellent book

This was really a great audio book to listen that mentions great things that mankind discovered and invented in the last two centuries esp. From industrial revolution till date on machine learning AI and many more.
At one stage I felt it's a bit too much of history but then it was good to hear so many inventions and all the great people behind them.
The book gets really exciting from early 80s onwards when he talks about computers.
Thoroughly enjoyed listening to this audio book.

Enjoyed listening to it

Found it very interesting - as Dagogo traces how we have reached where we are today starting from the days of the steam engine. A must read for any techno or science enthusiast. Bucketing topics by the decade was also a good approach. Awesome narration by Butler

Tribute to all the Lengedary Figures!!!!

Today, we all are living the most convenient and comfortable life of the generation and it's all because of these all legends who have given their entire life to make something for the future. This book gives me a whole lot of sense that, what would happen next now?

So many new inventions have already been made public, more to come in near future. I am thinking of what would be our life after 50 years. Absolute read to all technocrates or who loves to read about technologies. Its a book to give tribute to all the legends!!!!

I enjoyed it thoroughly and now I am going to buy the hardcover for my physical collection!

Exhaustive Record of Innovations of the 100+ years

An Almost Exhaustive Record of Innovations of the last 100+ years!

I was looking for a single source for the innovations since 1900. This turned out to be the best. He has done a thorough research. With the help of trivia, sociocultural issues, accentuated with his own passion, the author enlivens those times! Divided into decades, supported by the backgrounds and foregrounds for each of those innovations, the author does a great job. Soon after completing the book I watched the video on Atari on YouTube by him. He has been chronicling the innovations! Enjoy!

Nice optimistic book about the future

Dagogo takes you through a history of technology and it’s impact on society from ancient times to the most recent advancements. The tone of the book gave me the same feel as reading Carl Sagan’s books on science because there’s that same sense that curiosity and a pursuit of knowledge can solve people’s problems.
