Auf jenem algerischen Kaperschiff, von welchem mich Eure gütige Hand befreit hat, befand sich ein junger Mann in meinem Alter, der mir nicht für das Sklavenkleid geboren schien, das er trug. Die übrigen Unglücklichen auf dem Schiff waren entweder rohe Menschen, mit denen ich nicht leben mochte, oder Leute, deren Sprache ich nicht verstand; darum gesellte ich mich zu der Zeit, wo wir ein Stündchen frei hatten, gerne zu dem jungen Mann. Er nannte sich Almansor und war seiner Aussprache nach, ein Ägypter.
