Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. Story
The most influential work of the entire Spanish literary canon and a founding work of modern Western literature, Don Quixote is also one of the greatest works ever written. Hugely entertaining but also moving at times, this episodic novel is built on the fantasy life of one Alonso Quixano, who lives with his niece and housekeeper in La Mancha. Quixano, obsessed by tales of knight errantry, renames himself ‘Don Quixote’ and with his faithful servant Sancho Panza, goes on a series of quests.

Set on the desert planet Arrakis, Dune is the story of the boy Paul Atreides, who would become the mysterious man known as Muad'dib. He would avenge the traitorous plot against his noble family—and would bring to fruition humankind's most ancient and unattainable dream.
A stunning blend of adventure and mysticism, environmentalism and politics, Dune won the first Nebula Award, shared the Hugo Award, and formed the basis of what is undoubtedly the grandest epic in science fiction. Frank Herbert's death in 1986 was a tragic loss, yet the astounding legacy of his visionary fiction will live forever.

Epic Space Opera
Finally finished listening to this epic Space Opera. The audio production was superb with multiple narrators and wonderful background music and effects.
I don't know if I'm dense but I missed to understand a lot of the underlying concepts. Like why is the Fremen religion influenced by Islam? And how did some people get super human capabilities and what's the history of AI in the universe? There are tonnes of "Why you should read Dune?" videos and now that I have, I feel like I didn't understand some of the takeaways which are supposedly what makes it a great book.
The world building is complex but I found it much easier to understand since I had already watched the movie. And I'm really looking forward to the second movie now. I'm sure the film would be able to visualize the book very well. One of the characters is actually a man in the book but was cast as a woman in the movie to increase the diversity in the film, which was interesting.

I wish that the Baron’s voice would not be changed so frequently and the Duke and Lady Jessica’s voice would remain constant throughout the narrative

As the first book I listened to on Audible, I couldn't have picked a better book than Dune. The story is gripping from start to finish, with rarely a boring moment. The narration was on point, expressive and kept me hooked from page 1 to the end.
