About this listen
Elantris was built on magic, and it thrived. But then the magic began to fade, and Elantris began to rot. Now its shattered citizens face domination by a powerful Imperium. Can a young Princess unite the people of Elantris and lead a rebellion against the imperial zealots?
Brandon Sanderson's debut fantasy showed his skill as a storyteller and an imaginer of baroque magical systems to be fully developed from the start.

Brilliantly written and narrated
I think this book would appeal to most listeners/readers. The plot is well thought out, characters are relatable and the narration pours life and emotion into it. I guess i'm a Brandon Sanderson fan too, now.

What a wonderful book!
Elantris has to be the most wonderful book I have ever had the pleasure of reading and I am absolute awed with Brandon’s writing. It was an absolute honour to read this book.

Brilliant
Loved it totally, the protagonist in this shows how you don't need to be magnanimous to create an impact, it shows a person can be simply honest, decent and humorous to save the day .. Brilliantly written by Brandon Sanderson

4.5/5
The prose isn't perfect, and maybe the ending was a bit rushed (the only reason it's a 4.5 instead of a perfect 5 for me), but you'll grow to love these characters. The first three quarters of the story was delightful, with all the political intrigue and character building. The pacing was just perfect during this part. This is my first Sanderson novel and I don't read too many epic fantasy novels. Maybe that's why Elantris was perfect for me.
Narrator: I thought Jack Garret did a brilliant job. The audiobook format doesn't always work for me. I constantly lose focus, and it's a pain going back to the exact place. It's so much easier with a book. But Jack Garrett's narration style and speed works perfectly for me. In the beginning, his accent or voice might seem a bit unusual, but as the story progresses and you hear more of him and all the characters he brings to life, you'll begin to appreciate the wonderful job he has done.

Not the best Sanderson???? oh please
I know I know this is not the best Sanderson, its Mistborn, stormlight archive blah blah blah, well the truth is I can't really comment on that, because I my self have just started way of kings. but what I can tell you is how good this book actually is, its gotta cool world and the plot normally focuses on a magic system that is not working. we follow 3 characters, all of which I really enjoyed:1)an ambitious priest who has secrets you can never imagine ( though I didn't really latch on to this character until the near end but later on he really crept on the top) 2)A twisty politician, with quiet many skills( however she IS afraid of heights) and a over the top positive prince who every one thinks is dead.
Elantris is a city, where people are imprisoned if they get affected by the shayod (a certain kind of disease which in the very beginning our prince is also affected by and so becomes an Elantrian) and the same day when the king, his father "claims" he is dead both of our other protagonists arrive in the city and that's where the story kicks of.
I will say that this is very political heavy book especially because we are following 3 different plots with 3 different characters, 2 of them, the one with the politician and priest are for the most part those two scheming plans to overthrow the king. the prince's plot follows him, trying to rebuild the dammed city into something more.
almost till near the end you are not going to get ACTION ACTION ACTION, but if you like politics in your book you will enjoy. there are some things which to me appeared cheesy and clichéd, but I won't comment on that because overall it doesn't really ruin the story.
the only personal thing I'm going to comment on is that I wasn't a fan of how everything went down in the end but aside from that I was really invested in the rest of the story, I guess I just had higher expectations because Sanderson is practically known for giving those gut wrenching- amazing endings, and for me that just wasn't it.

Beauty surpassing AON DEO
What I love the most is not just the narrative style or the voice modulation for each character or the integrity of story plot or the ability to pull the reader(listener) towards the magical world, but that how all of them comes together without effort and with effect of immense magic.

Amazing read from start to finish
Just loved it. Just need some time in the beginning to settle into the story. Great characters and world building.
