With a full cast production, this highly-entertaining dramatization of the award-winning military science fiction story Ender's Game will wow fans as well as listeners new to this classic. Using an original screenplay written by Orson Scott Card himself, the audioplay takes listeners through Battle School with prodigy Ender Wiggin.
The cast fleshes out their characters with full personalities and motivations - in particular, the actors who portray the children at Battle School do a wonderful job in bringing out their precociousness and fading innocence. The action scenes are brisk and electrifying, and listeners will be swept up in the events of the story.

Amazing experience and a brilliant Live Audiobook
Thousands have reviewed the book, but only a few have reviewed this particular format of the audiobook. Allow me to assist you in making a decision about whether to purchase it or not.
"Ender's Game Alive: The Full Case Audioplay" is not a straightforward narration of the original book by Orson Scott Card. Instead, it is a re-enactment of the events with different actors portraying different characters. The entire book unfolds through conversations, without any narration interrupting the dialogue. To illustrate, let's consider a simple example: In the original narration, you would hear the complete sentence, "He looked around the table and saw that there were only a few chairs. He asked, 'Is that all?'" However, in this audiobook, you would only hear the line, "Is that all?" The author has reimagined the book in a way that allows us to grasp what's happening solely through the characters' conversations.
The conversational style works effectively, immersing you in the world of Ender as if you were listening to a play without a narrator. Through the characters' dialogue, you construct the world in your mind without the need for explicit descriptions. It's akin to experiencing "Avatar" and independently envisioning the world of the Na'vi.
What works exceptionally well in this audiobook format? All the voice actors deliver outstanding performances, each with a distinct and clear voice, eliminating any confusion about which character is speaking. While the voice of Ender may not precisely match that of a six-year-old, the actor brings the character to life in such a way that you can vividly imagine Ender in your mind. Personally, I was captivated by Major Graph's voice, which truly captured the essence of a mission-driven character solely focused on the outcome. Their arguments with the Chief Psychologist provide a prime example of the engaging listening experience, as you gain insight into Ender's world through their exchanges.
Additionally, the manageable number of characters to remember is another strength of this audiobook. With the primary focus on Ender and a select few supporting characters, it's easy to recognize their voices, ensuring you won't struggle to identify who is who. However, it is important to note that finishing the audiobook in a few sittings is key. This approach helps maintain a fresh connection between the voices and the corresponding characters. Since there is no option to easily backtrack and identify who is speaking, it is advisable to stay engaged throughout the listening experience.
What might pose a challenge? The only difficulty listeners might encounter is imagining the setting, scenario, and events since there are no explicit descriptions. Everything is unveiled solely through the conversations between characters. At times, you must rely on your own imagination to create the setting and the world. However, having watched the movie adaptation, I found that my imagined world closely aligned with what was portrayed on screen. Therefore, I don't believe this will significantly impede your immersive experience. As previously mentioned, completing the audiobook in a few sittings will help maintain the connection between the voices and the characters.
In conclusion, "Ender's Game Alive: The Full Case Audioplay" is a brilliant way to revisit the world of Ender or serves as an excellent introduction to the series for first-time readers. While the book has faced criticism for its limited number of female characters, it's essential to remember that it was not written in our present-day "woke" era, where there is a greater emphasis on diverse representation.

This ain’t it.
Children fighting a war? Hard pass.
Not sure how close this play is to the original text, but it is so severely lacking.
Great performance and sound effects though.

Stellar performance by the cast.
Having already seen the movie this was still a worthwhile experience, the details aren't amiss (as far as I can tell haven't read the original). Binged through the second half because it was that good.
