About this listen
Audie Award Finalist, Solo Narration - Male, 2013
Audie Award Finalist, Classic, 2013
Narrator Dan Stevens (Downton Abbey) presents an uncanny performance of Mary Shelley's timeless gothic novel, an epic battle between man and monster at its greatest literary pitch. In trying to create life, the young student Victor Frankenstein unleashes forces beyond his control, setting into motion a long and tragic chain of events that brings Victor to the very brink of madness. How he tries to destroy his creation, as it destroys everything Victor loves, is a powerful story of love, friendship, scientific hubris, and horror.

Superb Narration, amazing story
I really enjoyed the audiobook. Very well narrated, each character sounded like a different one, and words were sharply spoken. The story gave me goosebumps… Thanks :-)

A new perspective in horror
I enjoyed this book as it indulges in the repercussion of events which led in motion the story in a horror which gives the listener a new perspective to think twice before committing any action that can lead to their own destruction.

The beauty of dark, lonely, and malignant
Victor Frankenstein is a curious scientist, as his vocation demands. His travels and pursuit of knowledge leads him to find the elixir of restoring life, he quickly starts experimenting. The creation is not bustling with life and beauty as he had hoped but a monster. The monster bolts from victor’s laboratory. Child like, the monster, starts to learn the ways of life. Learning quickly that he needs food, warmth, and shelter to survive. In search finds himself in a village, and when discovered by humans, he’s pelted and made to flea. Running from there, he finds himself in another village, and makes himself a humble abode in sty that belonged to a family. He’s careful to not show himself. He learns by observing them and grows very fondly of them. He learns and as he learns questions plague him. He questions his existence and seeks love and validation. He musters the courage to reveal himself to the family, hoping they will look past his looks and care to know him — but there was only fear in their eyes. The family vacated the house and he quitted the place. He finds his creator, Frankenstein, demands him to create a companion for him. He’s denied and the dark ordeal of vengeance takes over — he sets out to destroy everything that’s dear to Frankenstein.
The travels and the reflections of Frankenstein makes the story so beautiful.

"who is the monster now?"
story was good, but to be honest and on my opinion it's bit overrated.

Clean Narration and Sci-fi
Dan Stevens have narrated the Sci-fi in a very precise pronunciation and slow paced manner, even beginners like me can make good use of.

An excellent listen!
The story is extremely compelling though not the best read I would say.
The narration on the other hand was marvelous. The authors use of different voices conveys deep emotions that may escape some readers and brings to life the words thereby painting a beautiful picture in the imagination.
Definitely worth the read!

More philosophical than I expected!
The social dilemma added to the story very well. Best part for me was the narration. Wonderful listen! Definitely recommend.
