About this listen
Michael Specter is a staff writer for The New Yorker, where he writes about science and technology. In the current edition of the magazine, he writes about the difficulties of measuring carbon footprints. His article is "Big Foot: In Measuring Carbon Emissions, It's Easy to Confuse Morality and Science".
Then, Edward Lucas, who has covered eastern Europe for The Economist for over 20 years. His new book is The New Cold War: Putin's Russia and the Threat to the West. In the book, he notes that repression in Russia is matched by aggression abroad, and he goes on to say that the New Cold War is fought with cash, natural resources, diplomacy, and propaganda. He also says the West is unwilling to admit what is happening.
