Publisher's Summary

This fast-paced, inspirational narrative reveals how God used one man of great courage, discipline, and humility to bring countless souls to Christ.

God’s accomplishments through George Whitefield are to this day virtually unparalleled. In an era when many ministers were timid and apologetic in their preaching, he preached the gospel with aggressive zeal and undaunted courage. In the wake of his fearless preaching, revival swept across the British Isles, and the Great Awakening transformed the American colonies.

The previous two-volume work George Whitefield: The Life and Times of the Great Evangelist of the Eighteenth-Century Revival is now condensed into this single volume filled with primary-source quotations from the 18th century, not only from Whitefield but also from such prominent figures as John and Charles Wesley, Benjamin Franklin, and William Cowper.

Excellent Book about an unremembered influencer

Great book about a man who is little remembered, but who had a tremendous influence over the Methodist movement and christian illumination. Its clear that George was blessed with an incredible mind for leadership, coupled with a powerful voice, and abundant humility. His religious studies revealed his life's mission and the universe stepped up to meet him, by providing ample followers and assistants, and a brief exposure to Christ consciousness. Through his experiences and intellect, he dug deep into Christianity and developed a doctrine of a wholesome life that gripped his audience, and led him to become a rock star of evangelist preaching. He drew tremendous crowds to his sermons which changed peoples destructive behavior. In the end, he stepped back from the credit, and let his creation grow into an influential sect of Protestantism . His message was clear and his humility a lesson in today's egoistic times. The book brings to life his epic journey and its contribution to humanity.
