About this listen
Faced with losing everything, all that matters is here and now....
Marigold has spent her life taking care of those around her, juggling family life with the running of the local shop, and being an all-round leader in her quiet yet welcoming community. When she finds herself forgetting things, everyone quickly puts it down to her age. But something about Marigold isn’t quite right, and it’s becoming harder for people to ignore. As Marigold’s condition worsens, for the first time in their lives her family must find ways to care for the woman who has always cared for them. Desperate to show their support, the local community comes together to celebrate Marigold and to show her that losing your memories doesn’t matter when there are people who will remember them for you....
Evocative, emotional and full of life, Here and Now is the most moving book you’ll read this year - from Sunday Times best-selling author Santa Montefiore.

A heartbreaking account of life with dementia
Where do I start with this book?
First off, let me address how unique this storyline is. It takes the cruel and terrifying condition of dementia, and gives us a glimpse of how life can be for patients and their families. Life is devastating, that's a given. But this book brings into focus how precious life is and how important love and family are.
With each character and each incident, you're reminded time and again to enjoy what you have right now, instead of worrying about the past and fretting about the future.
Because that's all we have in our control, isn't it? The now. And what's wrong with now?
Do pick up this book. Yes, there are certain sections of the story which I felt were a little cliched. But for the most part, this book is an ode to the strength of love, family and community. Most importantly, it shows us the indomitable spirit of humanity. No matter what happens, we can get through it. All we need to do is enjoy the now.
Narration: Splendid. Very easy to understand and lovely to listen to.
