About this listen

Iron Age of India...around 900 BCE.

Born in the arms of the Ganga, Vasu grew up in the raging province of Anga. His life shaped by a fate that failed to be just - neglected by his own, stripped of his birthright - he was raised to be lost in an abyss of desires and disappointment.

Cursed by his guru, hurt by the only woman he loved, ostracised from society for being the son of a suta. With his only armour - hope - he ventured on an unforgettable journey. Alone.

This is Vasu’s tale of survival, of endurance, of abiding courage in the face of all adversities. And eventually, of blossoming into the greatest warrior of all time...Karna.

In an ultimate battle against his archenemy - the insidious, dishonourable and all-powerful Jarasandha - for a title he knew he deserved.

From a sutaputr to a leader of the people, this is a saga of betrayal, lost love and glory.

This is the story of the king of Anga.

Something fantastically plausible.

Loved the story absolutely.
Loved Karna with his touch of humanity.
Felt sympathetic towards Jara weirdly enough.

a great story of a great Archer

This audiobook offered different perspectives on the classic Mahabharata warrior Karna, gave them a modern angle, a different lens to look at this classic.

a completely different perspective

loved the narration a lot! story is an end product of the author's perspective imagination, which relates to Greek and other cultural influences at those times. the role of Archimedes leads us to one such influences.. for a person who is not aware of Mahabharata, i would suggest to go through the real story first and then enjoy this perspective.

A Karna Fiction

Not a traditional Karna that we know, but written nicely around Karna as a man and as a leader.

The Strength of the Character

Karna was always known for his empathetic and noble ways. The portrayal of Karna in Anand Neelakanthan's style is the best one, I've ever come across. The moments when he met his father, not knowing he was the one, his thoughts about Kunti and his love both for Panchali and Shanaya.... wonderfully descriptive. Loved the read!

A decent read!

It provides a fresh perspective on Karna's life and challenges readers to reflect on the complexities of morality and destiny. It prompts readers to ponder questions of right and wrong, loyalty, and destiny, which are central themes in the Mahabharata through Karnas eyes.
