About this listen
Few actors in Hindi cinema have had Rishi Kapoor's sort of a career arc: from the gawky adolescent pining for his schoolteacher (Mera Naam Joker, 1970) to the naughty 90-year-old (Kapoor & Sons, 2016), Rishi Kapoor has regaled audiences for close to 50 years. He won a National Award for his debut, became an overnight sensation with his first film as a leading man (Bobby, 1973), and carved a niche for himself with a string of romantic musical blockbusters in an era known for its angst-ridden films. He was the youth icon that is still the toast of the satellite TV circuit. The songs he lip-synced are the bread and butter of all radio stations even today. Then there was the second coming after a brief hiatus in the 1990s - as one of the finest actors in mainstream Hindi cinema with powerhouse performances in films like Do Dooni Chaar, D-Day, Agneepath and others.
Characteristically candid, Rishi Kapoor brings Punjabi brio to the writing of Khullam Khulla. This is as up close and personal a biography as any fan could have hoped for. He writes about growing up in the shadow of a legendary father, skipping school to act in Mera Naam Joker, the workings of the musical hits of the era, an encounter with Dawood Ibrahim, his heroines (their working relationship, the gossip and the frisson that was sometimes real), his approach to his craft, his tryst with clinical depression, and more.
A foreword by Ranbir Kapoor and a stirring afterword by Neetu Singh bookend the warmest, most dil se biography an Indian star has ever penned.

Detailed, Comprehensive and Engaging.
Absolutely Loved it. It is a wonderful compilation of some glorious stories of hindi film cinema. Stories which were otherwise unknown and deserved to be told. Rishi Kapoor ji's autobiography like the title suggest is an open book every hindi cinema lover should read or listen on audible 😊

Book for fans
this book does not give you any philosophical advice or life lesson. It is a book for fans of Rishi kapoor otherwise before you want to read it you must watch some movies like bobby, laila majnu, chandni, hum kisi se kam nahi and karz if not full movies than trailers because he has talked about the picturization and related stories. It is an autobiography which is not chronologically designed but it will go as factors as in there are chapters on his father, Neetu kapoor, his children, friends and movies etc. so chapter on father would describe his relation with his father from beginning to his death so goes with other chapters. About narration - the narrator has similar voice as of Rishi kapoor. Some hindi phrases are used and there narrations fail. overall if you want to read to find some masala disclouser then there are a few but these are not the selling point of the book. This book is for his fans.

Honest and entertaining
Loved the way Rishi ji had honestly opened up about himself, his work life and personal life. Loved also the foreword by Ranbir and Afterword by Neethu ji. My love and respect for Neethu ji increased more after listening to this. Narration was good too. At times it even felt like Rishi ji himself was narrating. Overall an entertaining book.

Hindi pronunciation
The narrator's Hindi pronunciation was weak. eg. Ameeta Bachchan. Sounded like a Parsi bawa stereotype.

the content stands by the name...Khullam Khulla.
Rishi Kapoor takes us through the inside stories of some of the incidences which made headlines during those days. Such honest narratives need a lot of guts. I was glued to the book till the end. It is a good read for movie lovers
