About this listen
'It was the day I put the tennis balls into the tumble dryer that I realised I thought about tennis a little bit differently.'
What happens when you find you have exceptional children? Do you panic? Put your head in the sand? Or risk everything and jump in headfirst?
As mother to tennis champions Jamie and Andy Murray, Scottish national coach, coach of the Fed Cup and general all-round can-do woman of wonder, Judy Murray is the ultimate role model for believing in yourself and reaching out to ambition. As a parent, coach and leader, she is an inspiration who has revolutionised British tennis. From the soggy community courts of Dunblane to the white heat of Centre Court at Wimbledon, Judy Murray's extraordinary memoir charts the challenges she has faced, from desperate finances and growing pains to entrenched sexism.
We all need a story of 'yes we can' to make us believe great things are possible. This is that story.

An interesting tennis focussed story
This book had been on my “to read” list for a while, considering I’m a huge tennis fan and have followed Andy and Jamie’s careers for years. I’ve followed Judy as a result of that. I follow her on twitter as well and I really like her.
This was an interesting story of Judy and specifically, tennis in her life. I was expecting it to be more autobiographical and to cover details of her life as a person beyond tennis as well (like personal life, details of family, etc.). This book does deal with other parts of her life but very, very briefly. This is a heavily tennis focussed book where you learn about how she grew up with the game, her journey as a player and coach and mom to two tennis kids. It is very, very heavily focussed on tennis so I don’t think this is something that everyone might enjoy. As a huge tennis fan, it was enjoyable to listen to her journey. She’s narrated it well and it’s fascinating and eye-opening to know how she got her kids and herself where they are today. It has only a few anecdotes of Andy and Jamie but they are absolutely heartwarming and things I’d never heard of before.
Overall, I’d recommend this book to someone who is a tennis fan and is interested in Judy and her life. It may not be for a layman or someone not into the game or her, even though it has some nice life lesson and is quite inspirational.
