About this listen

If you see a covered woman in the forest, run! The peasants and woodcutters, who have seen her, say that she is a burly, elegant lady, dressed in fresh leaves and green moss, with a hat covered by leaves and green feathers. It's not possible to distinguish her face, because it is darkened by her hat. Many people also recognize her shouts or bellows in dark nights and in dangerous weather. She lives in entangled places, with leafy trees, away from the noise of civilization in hot forests with harmful animals.

The peasants say that when the Madremonte bathes in the head-boards of the rivers, they become muddy and overflow, causing floods and strong tempests that cause frightful damage. She protects her boundaries and punishes those who invade her lands: the perjured, the perverse, the unfaithful spouses and the vagabonds.
