Als Christa Wolf 2002 die Erzählung "Leibhaftig" veröffentlichte, kam es bei der ersten Lesung zu einem Massenansturm. Die Geschichte einer namenlosen Ostberliner Schriftstellerin, die beinahe an einer Krankheit stirbt, gilt als eine Abrechnung mit der DDR.
Der Körper der Patientin wird zur Metapher eines allgemeinen Zusammenbruchs, und erst die Erkenntnis, dass politische Verhältnisse sie in diese lebensbedrohliche Lage gebracht haben, führt zu ihrer persönlichen Rettung. Eine Erzählung darüber, wie Politisches und Privates einander durchdringen - gelesen von der Autorin selbst.
