About this listen

Said to be the world's longest poem, Mahabharata was originally composed in 100,000 Sanskrit verses by the ancient Indian sage Vyasa. Revered as a sacred text within Hinduism, it contains the great spiritual teaching Bhagavad-gita. Krishna Dharma has condensed the epic into a fast paced novel that fully retains the majestic mood of the original. A powerful and moving tale, it recounts the history of the five heroic Pandava brothers, sons of the Emperor Pandu. Cheated of their kingdom and sent into exile by their envious cousins, they set off on a fascinating journey during which we meet gods, sages, mystics and mighty warrior kings. Profound spiritual themes underlie the thrilling narrative, making it one of the world's most revered texts. Culminating in an apocalyptic war, Mahabharata is a masterpiece of suspense, intrigue, and illuminating wisdom.©1999 Krishna Dharma (P)2015 Krishna Dharma Eastern Hinduism Eastern Religion

Mahabharat the way it’s meant to be read

A perfect rendition of Mahabharata. Not adulterated with extra narrative with underlying agendas. The exact story, characters, thoughts, events described by Vyasa Dev himself.
Thanks to Krishna Das for this masterpiece.

Good condensed and altered version

There are some variations to the other versions I read but it is good as it is short and greatly reduces length, some boring parts are definitely shorted for good. I'm not a fan of the oration, some names doesn't sound like they really are. Otherwise it is fine overall.

Sorry for listeners

Bad westernized pronounciations of beautiful names. Lack of energy in narration. Great injustice to such an epic

toneless narration of an epic sans of its essence

the narrator felt like a robotic voice which read something which it could not comprehend. Also important portions that discuss philosophy has been omitted to present a very bland tale. lots of description the war, but without any sort of intonation make is dull and boring. if you are unfamiliar with Mahabharata, then this is an okayish read. but for ppl from india, who know the tale through oral tradition and looking to read/hear for the finer details, this is a disappointment.
