About this listen

To most of us, learning something "the hard way" implies wasted time and effort. Good teaching, we believe, should be creatively tailored to the different learning styles of students and should use strategies that make learning easier.

Make It Stick turns fashionable ideas like these on their head. Many common study habits and practice routines turn out to be counterproductive. Underlining and highlighting, rereading, cramming, and single-minded repetition of new skills create the illusion of mastery, but gains fade quickly. More complex and learning come from self-testing, introducing certain difficulties in practice, waiting to re-study new material until a little forgetting has set in, and interleaving the practice of one skill or topic with another. Speaking most urgently to students, teachers, trainers, and athletes, Make It Stick will appeal to all those interested in the challenge of lifelong learning and self-improvement.

a very engaging listen

Narrator's voice was engaging. Content is clear and simple. However the writers have included too many anecdotes. I wonder if read in a book they would lighter. Overall a good listen for anyone in post graduate to a continuous learning philosophy.

A must read especially for students attempting competitive exams

It completely changed my studying style.

Since I am a student appearing for a very competitive examination, I’m grateful to the authors for sharing empirical science based learning cues.

Holy grail of learning.

I heard about this book in a productivity video on YouTube. I immediately found it on audible and started listening to it. In the first instance I found the concepts hard to understand, but I didn't give up and listened to it again, this time the concepts started to become more clear and I was able to correlate them at a personal level to a more realistic scenarios of my day to day challenges. I still listen to the book on audible while working out, as it helps keeps me on track.

As a personal recommendation to all the readers who are reading this review and are sceptical about purchasing this book, I will suggest that don't think much and buy it and just read or listen to it more than once.

I thank the writers of this book Peter, Henry and Roediger for writing such a wonderful book.

Absolute must to understand the science of learnin

One of most important book to really crack the code of learning anything. Keeping the intelligence, attitude aside, How you learn makes a tremendous difference, this book will give insight on those ideas/strategies backed by empirical research and proven studies. It opens your eyes on preconceived notions which limits our potential and provides a path to get back on track and make a difference to what matters most.

A Gem in its own right

Came to know of this book through Ali Abdaal and honestly I'm impressed.
This book is all you need in terms of study strategies that'll take you quite far in terms of your potential.I don't know if I'd like to describe "potential" in sort of a limiting fashion ,but In a way that we humans are capable of learning anything with the right strategies and one's own potential is set by him/herself and not by our peers.
Would Recommend to all.

The Book I wish I had known in my school time.

I always struggle to read and my goal with reading is to get 100 percent out of anything I read
If I don't make it then I quit reading.

by listening this book now I know that our brains learns things slowly and,

SETBACKS ARE SIGN OF EFFORT NOT FALIURE AND EVERY EFFORT BUILDS EXPERTISE WHICH CREATE NEW NEURAL PATHWAYS FOR BETTER READING.
