About this listen

A full-cast dramatisation of Neil Gaiman's magical retellings of the Norse myths, inviting us into a world of gods and monsters, tricks and trust, fiery endings and new beginnings

Winner of The London Book Fair CAMEO Award 2020 for Book to Audio adaptation.

'And the game begins anew…'

Meet the trickster god Loki and his astonishing children – the giant wolf Fenrir, Jormungundr the snake that encircles the world, and Hel, the little girl who grows up to be Queen of the dead. Here, too, is Odin the all-father, who sacrificed his eye to see the future; Thor the thunderer, who defends Asgard with his fearsome strength and mighty hammer; and Freya the understandably angry, most beautiful of the gods and always being gambled for by unwanted suitors.

From the beginning of the universe in fire and ice, to the very end of the world, Ragnarok, these enthralling tales of gods, goddesses, dwarves and giants bring the ancient myths to vigorous life.

Diana Rigg, Derek Jacobi, Colin Morgan, Natalie Dormer and Neil Gaiman himself are among the stellar cast in these spellbinding stories of old betrayals – and new hope.

What a journey!!

My boy of 13 thoroughly enjoyed it on a car ride. He opined, ‘a drab ride turned into a theatre’.

Excellent adaptation

The voice acting was nearly flawless, with each voice accurately depicting their character's personality. Encore.

Vividly and vivaciously described.

Amazing story described in a captive manner. Scenes pop up in your mind as if you are watching a movie.

This was brilliant!

Hilarious! I heard Neil Gaiman's voice as the background news reporter in the beginning.

Thor dressing up as a woman is just insane. Get this dramatization if you want to laugh for an hour or so.

Merlin as Loki!

I've literally read this book atleast 5 times, and only got the Audible version because of the cast, and oh what a cast!

Everybody is so good, but Colin Morgan as Loki is something I never knew I needed! So so good!!

Odin's Legacy: Tales from the Halls of Asgard

The title aims to capture the essence of Norse mythology while hinting at the dramatic and professional narrative style you've described. If you have a particular theme or element you want to emphasize, let me know, and I can tailor the titles accordingly!
The audiobook that brings the rich tapestry of Norse mythology to life. The show is a triumph of storytelling, with a level of dramatization that transports you straight into the world of gods, giants, and heroes. The narrative is so well-crafted and narrated that it feels like attending a professional meeting with the pantheon itself.

The plot is intricate yet clear, weaving together the various threads of myth into a coherent and riveting story that keeps you 'revected'—a term I'll use to describe the state of eager anticipation for what's to come. The characters are voiced with such passion and depth that you can't help but empathize with their struggles and triumphs.

The production quality is top-notch, with sound effects and musical scores that enhance the experience without overwhelming the narration. It's evident that a great deal of care and expertise went into the making of this audiobook.

As the story unfolds, you're held in suspense, always looking forward to the next chapter. It's a journey through the nine worlds that is both educational and entertaining, leaving you with a deeper appreciation for the complexities of Norse lore.

I would certainly look forward to more works from this team. They've set a high bar for what an audiobook can achieve in terms of storytelling and immersion. If you're a fan of mythology or just love a good story well told, this is not to be missed.

A very well made dramatisation of Gaiman’s Norse Mythology. Makes for an easy and quick (abridged) listen to the book.
