About this listen

O Jerusalem! is the epic drama of 1948, when Arabs and Jews fought for control of the city of Jerusalem. This story traverses centuries and continents, covering the time between WWII and the creation of the independent state of Israel. Based on five years of intensive research and thousands of interviews, this is a story of courage, terrorism, heroism, and ultimately, war.©1972 Larry Collins and Dominique Lapierre (P)2003 New Millennium Audio, All Rights Reserved History Judaism Middle East World

A remarkable and chilling memoir of 20th Century Jerusalem

An excellent rendition by Bikel of a gripping set of events leading up to the birth of the Jewish state and the ensuing war. Masterfully written by Collins and Lapierre. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Seminal, stunning

Seminal account of a historic city at one of its most important time. The book is compelling, unsettling and down right uncomfortable in parts but a must read if you love History. Narrator has done a great job bringing out the story and done justice to the book

History at it's most painful

Loved the book from the first page. The story of struggle, pain and courage gives your goosebumps all the way. One world's say that there is an element of bias towards the underdogs.

Simply immersive narration..

The book and narration is addictive and immersive. I felt that I had travelled in the past and living the moment. I could feel the pain, the victory, the loss and all the small happiness you experience during such time.
