A perfect abridgement
The classic could have no one better to abridge it than Richard Dawkins. His reading, too, is impeccable.

enthralling even after 150 years of work
It was such a delight to hear Charles Darwin's "On the origin of species" read by Dr Richard Dawkins. Dr Dawkins has edited it a bit and in this abridged version, so some of the long drawn comparisons done by Charles Darwin e.g. the necks of Finches, is removed. But I think all salient parts are included.
Despite he devoting his life to this research that quite convincingly comes out with the explanation how natural selection is responsible for the intricate designs available in nature, we still have people believing in an intelligent creator.
Some parts of the book needs to be repeatedly heard to actually sink in.
