About this listen

Penguin presents the audiobook edition of One Day in December by Josie Silver, read by Eleanor Tomlinson and Charlie Anson.

Laurie is pretty sure love at first sight doesn't exist. After all, life isn't a scene from the movies, is it?

But then, through a misted-up bus window one snowy December day, she sees a man who she knows instantly is the one. Their eyes meet, there's a moment of pure magic...and then her bus drives away.

Laurie thinks she'll never see the boy from the bus again. But at their Christmas party a year later, her best friend Sarah introduces her to the new love of her life. Who is, of course, the boy from the bus.

Determined to let him go, Laurie gets on with her life. But what if fate has other plans?

Following Laurie, Sarah and Jack through ten years of love, heartbreak and friendship, One Day in December is a joyous, heart-warming and immensely moving love story that you'll want to escape into forever.

Critic Reviews

Gorgeous...readers are going to love it! (Marian Keyes)

Sucked me in and didn't let go. It made me laugh, cry, ache and shout at the characters. Utterly captivating...one of my favourite books (Holly Martin)
A feel-good, heart-wrenching tribute to the female friends we cannot do without, as well as the men that we fall for. Josie Silver is one to watch (Stephanie Butland)

Good story but a bit lengthy, awesome ending

It's a good story and progresses well over the years of the protagonists's life. The emotional moments are heartfelt. the performance by the narrators is also good and voice modulation suitable to the setting. i started the book and didnt want to stop till it finished, which says that the story's flow was interesting. My only grudge is that the book was a bit too long. The author could have kept a tighter storyline without those little extra sentimental stuff and that odd incident. Those same things could have been shown through inner turmoil, but without getting into too much deliberation. a liked the ending, that was something interesting though not unexpected. it made the overall story peak just before the end. Further, for a generation that dumps everything out on social media, the two leads had massive restraint in them which was odd.... maybe the setting could have been a decade prior for better character association. Overall enjoyable and feel good read.

The narrations will give u feels of the characters

Loved it. The narrator was the best that's why I started it in the first place. I bet there wouldn't be a better narrator than them.
