About this listen

In the second title in the popular Rascal the Dragon series, Rascal goes to the park to learn some tricks to frighten away the Big Bad Cat. But he is not getting the hang of them. "You must scare Big Bad Cat," says Ben. Rascal is such a small dragon, Can he do it?

In Ben's world, dragons exist like dogs and fulfill all the doggy functions with dragon overlays, like having two heads, or being able to fly. The dragons all correspond to various breeds of dog. At last, some Paul Jennings books for early readers, each with the satisfying trademark twist!

Editorial Reviews

This delightful listen for young children pits little Rascal the Dragon against the Big Bad Cat who loves to steal people's tea (and comes with his own thundering soundtrack). Ben tries to teach Rascal tricks to scare away the cat, but as always, he has trouble getting the hang of things. Performer Rebecca Macauley's delivery is light, upbeat, and fun, a perfect match for beloved Australian children's author Paul Jennings' tale. Macauley reads the story three times, once with music and sound, once with only a sound that tells kids when to turn the page, and once with voice track alone, so that kids can supply their own fun music and sounds.
