After Tova Sullivan’s husband died, she began working the night cleaner shift at the Sowell Bay Aquarium. Ever since her eighteen-year-old son, Erik, mysteriously vanished on a boat over thirty years ago keeping busy has helped her cope. One night she meets Marcellus, a giant Pacific octopus living at the aquarium who sees everything, but wouldn’t dream of lifting one of his eight arms for his human captors – until he forms a remarkable friendship with Tova.
Ever the detective, Marcellus deduces what happened the night Tova’s son disappeared. And now Marcellus must use every trick his old body can muster to unearth the truth for her before it’s too late...
Shelby Van Pelt’s debut novel is a reminder that sometimes taking a hard look at the past can help uncover a future that once felt impossible.

A sweet, heartwarming, cozy novel.
The ingredients which made this book a dessert - An old lady who doesn't have any family left, loves cleaning, keeps to herself and a sentient octopus who is sassy, hyper intelligent, adventurous and has a found a new friend in the old lady during the last few weeks of his life.
Kudos to the narrator for voicing Ethan with the most killer Irish accent!

Truly Remarkable
A well written and well narrated novel about a boy setting out in search of his father and how the mystery unravels. Marcellus is a truly a remarkably a bright creature who is struggling to convey the truth that he has figured out. The story even though lengthy let's you travel along with the characters emotions.

Loved it!!
The narrators and the story grew on me ,until it became unputdownable.
Simple, but crisp, unexpected twists and a peep into everyday life .Lot of feeling for old single people, small sensitive insights in the life of a young and old person.
Loved it!!
