About this listen

This case is proving a difficult one for Chief Inspector Wexford. All he has to go on is his own intuitive suspicions. Was he becoming cynical and untrusting or was this one of the most ingenious crimes he had ever tackled?©1975 Ruth Rendell (P)2014 Audible, Inc. Crime Thrillers Mystery Psychological Suspense

DNF - just couldn't listen to this!

The Semi misogynistic tones and prejudices - may be indicative of the period and the time. But was just too much to take. given that 9 chapters into the book, all it drones on about is a narcissistic older detective and his opinionated view on a young woman's murder. Just reminds you of an older Uncle of the family who wants to have an opinion on everything. The book attempts to solve the murder bt fails as its over descriptive about the counties and the detective to a point that I lost interest even in finding out who the murderer is!
