Publisher's Summary

The new Sherlock Holmes novel from the New York Times best-selling author of The Age of Odin and Firefly: Big Damn Hero.

It is 1890, and in the days before Christmas, Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson are visited at Baker Street by a new client. Eve Allerthorpe - eldest daughter of a grand but somewhat eccentric Yorkshire-based dynasty - is greatly distressed, as she believes she is being haunted by a demonic Christmas spirit.

Her late mother told her terrifying tales of the sinister Black Thurrick, and Eve is sure that she has seen the creature from her bedroom window. What is more, she has begun to receive mysterious parcels of birch twigs, the Black Thurrick’s calling card....

Eve stands to inherit a fortune if she is sound of mind, but it seems that something - or someone - is threatening her sanity. Holmes and Watson travel to the Allerthorpe family seat at Fellscar Keep to investigate, but soon discover that there is more to the case than at first appeared. There is another spirit haunting the family, and when a member of the household is found dead, the companions realize that no one is beyond suspicion.

Amazing story and great narrating

That’s amazingly written and equally marvellously narrated. I could have easily believed that it was written by Sir Sherlock Holmes.

As brilliant as the master

Good story and very well performed. The author has done full justice to the legendary Holmes and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
Enjoyed every minute

Fun read!

The book is fun to listen to. I love the narrator’s voice. This is the second Sherlock I am listening to narrated by Dennis Kleinman. Would listen to koee of this duo’s work (author and narrator)

Unmistakable Sherlock Holmes

Some added elements like his going exploring the diggings that was not part of the earlier story

Brilliant audiobook

This is a good audiobook. some aspects of the story were predictable however, the climax properly elaborates how every event fit in to make the whole. worthwhile way to pass time. Recommended.

Conan Doyle will not mind

Lovegrove has created Holmes and Dr Watson in a way that would please even Arthur Conan Doyle. Gripping... from the first page to the last word. And has twists quite literally after every few pages. - Arvind Passey - Blog: www.passey.info
