About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
Growing up in the suburbs in postwar Japan, it seemed to Hajime that everyone but him had brothers and sisters. His sole companion was Shimamoto, also an only child. Together they spent long afternoons listening to her father's record collection. But when his family moved away, the two lost touch.
Now Hajime is in his 30s. After a decade of drifting he has found happiness with his loving wife and two daughters and success running a jazz bar. Then Shimamoto reappears. She is beautiful, intense, enveloped in mystery. Hajime is catapulted into the past, putting at risk all he has in the present.

Quick Read
At first I didn't like the voice of the reader but gradually started liking it. He is a wonderful voice artist. Regarding the story, I don't know why every love interest in Murakami's story disappear. I expected something else in this one but no, the same old disappearance. He is a very favourite writer of mine, but didn't like the story much!

Monotony VS Epiphany
Brilliantly addictive. The desperation to keep moving on and holding on at the same time is many go through, this book just translates your “unideal” courage.

A simple and deep story
I have always loved Murakami's writing and surely this was not his best. Still a decent story with somewhat deep emotions of Hajime for his love.
