About this listen

A Man of Principles
In our current times, where dissent is often met with suppression, online harassment, and condemnation, this book provides a timely intellectual reminder of the relevance of critical thinking and cultivating logical curiosity. It was fascinating to see how innovatively and wittily Socrates posed questions, turning each interaction into an intellectually enriching discussion.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading about the pivotal events in Socrates’ life. However, for those new to his story, I’d recommend starting from Chapter 2. The first chapter primarily describes the geographical and historical context of Athens, Sparta, and Greece. While interesting, it may feel less relevant if your primary focus is on Socrates himself. After finishing the book, you can revisit Chapter 1 to gain a broader perspective on the cultural and physical backdrop.
This book is a must-read for every free thinker. It’s an enlightening journey into the mind of a man whose principles and questioning spirit remain timeless. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone looking to enrich their understanding of philosophy and the art of questioning.
Lastly, I missed Dr. Kalam’s introduction, which was promised on the cover page but was not included in the Audible version. While this was a bit disheartening, I hope greater attention is paid to such details in future adaptations. I would have loved to read his thoughts on this remarkable work.
