About this listen

Exploitive relationships can create trauma bonds-chains that link a victim to someone who is dangerous to them. Divorce, employee relations, litigation of any type, incest and child abuse, family and marital systems, domestic violence, hostage negotiations, kidnapping, professional exploitation and religious abuse are all areas of trauma bonding. All these relationships share one thing: they are situations of incredible intensity or importance where there is an exploitation of trust or power.

In The Betrayal Bond, Patrick Carnes presents an in-depth study of these relationships, why they form, who is most susceptible, and how they become so powerful. He shows how to recognize when traumatic bonding has occurred and gives a checklist for examining relationships. He then provides steps to safely extricate from these relationships. This is a book you will turn to again and again for inspiration and insight, while professionals will find it an invaluable reference work.

Great Help. Must read for all. But REQUIRES A PDF!

A FANTASTIC FIND.
This one is a must read. Especially if you are a woman. As women we usually go through a lot of difficult stuff. I thought I might Not need this book. It was just a whimsical, impulsive purchase. But boy was I wrong ! It is a great book. Even what we think is usual stuff, we " Just need to Get over it and move on ! " could be deeply traumatizing. It affects the quality of our day to day life. There is no need for us to carry on a lot of burdens. Most of which we aren't even aware of. I truly wish this book helps all as it's helped me.
It is Not filled with Generic, forgive forget, and see the Unicorns shit.
It makes us make an Honest Appreciation of Situations. No golden pot at the end of some rainbow bullshit.
It is Not Victim Blaming Book.
It does NOT ask us to focus only on the good, and let others be who they are, or to try and Understand that others were also scared and traumatized in the past, so they must be acting out.
IT Does encourage us to put the " Shame & blame " where it belongs: With the Abuser, not the Victim.
It Does point out, previously unseen, seemingly insidious patterns of self sabotage present in us.
BUT THIS BOOK HAS A LOT OF REALLY HELPFUL : SELF HELP TABLES AND TASKS, THAT WOULD BE EASY TO GRASP IF THERE WAS AN ACCOMPANYING PDF, WHICH SHOWED THESE TABLES. THE PRODUCTION COMPANY NEEDS TO ADD A PDF AT THE END, FOR ALL KINDS OF TABLES AND ACTIVITIES GIVEN THROUGHOUT THIS FANTASTIC BOOK.
