Publisher's Summary

Nina has her life just as she wants it: a job in a bookstore, a kick-butt trivia team, a world-class planner and a cat named Phil. When the father Nina never knew existed suddenly dies, leaving behind innumerable sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews, Nina is horrified.

They all live close by! They're excited to meet her! She'll have to Speak. To. Strangers. And as if that wasn't enough, Tom, her trivia nemesis, has turned out to be cute, funny, and deeply interested in getting to know her. It's time for Nina to come out of her comfortable shell. It's going to take a brand-new family, a persistent suitor, and the combined effects of ice cream and trivia to make her turn her own fresh page.

Story of a girl next door with an interesting spin

An interesting cute little story of a girl next door. Complex emotions, twisted history and funny moments fills this short read with some memorable excerpts. The author has done a great job with character building - every little entry of a character leaves a mark. Kudos to that. The audible experience was also brilliant.

Terrible writing

The writer tries too hard to make Nina the perfect liberal millennial. So hard, in fact, that the story takes a back seat and tokenizes a few queer characters, making random references to Rajasthan and hippie dietary preferences along the way. If you want to write about these things, the least you can do is tie them well into the story! Not, "Nina had always enjoyed the company of gay men and finding out that she was related to one was a bonus." So, of course she has to have a gay nephew/best friend who is flamboyant, debonair and over-the-top. Also, we get it! She lives in LA. In this case, you missed adding in references to kombucha, zero-waste living, smoothie bowls and goat yoga. And Nina's got no black or brown friends! Gasp! Little miss perfect is probably racist. Move on and tell us the story!

Good story for a Hollywood movie

I struggled to finish the book. The audio was good including the narrator as well.
