About this listen

In this collection of lectures that Richard Feynman originally gave in 1963, unpublished during his lifetime, the Nobel Prize-winning physicist discusses several of the ultimate questions of science. What is the nature of the tension between science and religious faith? Why does uncertainty play such a crucial role in the scientific imagination? Is this really a scientific age?

Marked by Feynman's characteristic combination of rationality and humor, these lectures provide an intimate glimpse at the man behind the legend. He says at the start of his final lecture, "I dedicate this lecture to showing what ridiculous conclusions and rare statements such a man as myself can make." Rare, perhaps, and irreverent, sure. But ridiculous? Not even close.

This audiobook by Richard Feynman is excellent, especially the first chapter. In the second and third chapters, the thoughts and lectures seem to follow a muddled path, and it is essential for the listener to pay close attention.

The sections on science are excellent and give the listener a very good overview of the scientific method.
I like some phrases - the freedom to doubt. Most of us do not allow this freedom. His story with the Buddhist Monk and the keys to Heaven and Hell is brilliant. I shan't tell the story because this may rob a person of the joy of listening to the story.

The diction is clear, and engaging.

You would want to hear that perspective: just the way many have been doing so over the last six decades, since the time Richard Feynman gave these lectures. You will hear how a physicist articulates philosophy for himself and for his audience.

The performance was rather mechanical. The author's thoughts were what made me hold on till the end

A nice listen from Feynman. The book explores many questions but it's more suited to the time when it was written.
