About this listen
Brought to you by Penguin.
Mum, there's some people here from college, they asked me back to theirs. Just for an hour or so. Is that OK?
Midsummer 2017: teenage mum Tallulah heads out on a date, leaving her baby son at home with her mother, Kim.
At 11pm she sends her mum a text message. At 4.30am Kim awakens to discover that Tallulah has not come home.
Friends tell her that Tallulah was last seen heading to a pool party at a house in the woods nearby called Dark Place.
Tallulah never returns.
2018: walking in the woods behind the boarding school where her boyfriend has just started as a head-teacher, Sophie sees a sign nailed to a fence.
A sign that says: dig here....
A cold case. An abandoned mansion. A family hiding a terrible secret.
Prepare to be hooked. Lisa Jewell's latest thriller is her best yet.

A mystery worth its name
The book is so well written, it is literally impossible to guess the conclusion. Twists and turns at absolute correct places. Left me holding my breath till the end. However the character development could have been better.

All I can say is Joanne is amazing at she does!
I am not sure if I would have liked the book as much if I can't listened to this audiobook. But great writing by Lisa, amazingly portrayed complex characters.. Just the book to lose yourself into👍

Boring!!!!
The story is so long unnecessarily when there is not much to the plot. So much dialogue between the characters. Unlike a really good mystery novel there is no excitement when you are listening. I skipped most of the chapters. waste of money.

Average
It's a very average story, with the reader easily being able to guess what might have happened with the missing persons. The whole story is a simple one which has been dragged out far too much with a lot of non essentials writing, ive heard the family upstairs novel too by the same author which also had a not very complicated plot but it was well written with a good amount of suspense. Honestly don't understand why the book this book has been so highly rated on Goodreads
