Publisher's Summary

Nothing offends liberals more than Western imperialism—it is racism, sexism, and chauvinism all in one. And of course the epitome of Western imperialism is the British Empire, the biggest empire the world has ever known, covering at its height a quarter of the globe’s surface and ruling a quarter of the world’s population. Here, best-selling author H. W. Crocker III exposes—in brawling, rambunctious style—how the British Empire was actually one of the greatest establishers and defenders of freedom in history.

So strap on your pith helmet for a rollicking ride through some of history’s most colorful events. The Politically Incorrect Guide to the British Empire provides a panoramic and provocative view of 400 years of history that will delight and amuse, educate and entertain.

Critic Reviews

"As someone who grew up in India, I often hear people ask, ‘What have the British done for us?’ Until I read this book, I didn’t have the full answer.” (Dinesh D’Souza,  New York Times best-selling author)

A fantastical romp through an idealized Empire

This is a semi factual and highly biased view of the jolly old British Empire. Filled with anecdotes and privilege that led to the rise, fall and eventual complete failure of the British Empire. Packed with swashbuckling adventures of a vastly superior British manly stock as they romped around the world full of grit and daring do. It reads like the Beano , an English schoolboys comic, filled with tall tales of vastly outnumbered heroes whose bravery and ingenuity carry the day, save the damsels and the put the heathen to the sword, all in the name of God and Empire. Its thoroughly enjoyable. It is not intended for adult listeners, so skips the dark sides, like dismissing the large numbers of famines that accompanied the hero's on their quest to banish slavery and load up with booty. It skims the lob-sided justice system that was based on a double standard (British and the others). It avoids the seemingly un-British "criminal tribes act" which doomed many to indentured servitude based on birth. Such trifles may ruin a good story. Its Victorian sensibilities bypass Mountbatten's fondness for young boys, while totally skipping Turing who saved England by cracking the Nazi code, because he was decidedly not a "manly man".
In the end, all is lost, but the fantasy that without subjugation by the glorious Empire, the world would be a much duller place today. The Dutch who ended up as the wealthiest people on the planet through clever investment of their colonial loot, are also omitted at the end of the tale.
Its a lot of fun, but not to be taken seriously.
