About this listen

Following the smash-hit sci-fi comedy The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe is the second part in Douglas Adams' multi media phenomenon and cult classic series, read by Martin Freeman.

If you've done six impossible things this morning, why not round it off with breakfast at Milliways, the Restaurant at the end of the Universe?

Which is exactly what the crew of the Heart of Gold plan to do. There's just the small matter of escaping the Vogans, avoiding being taken to the most totally evil world in the Galaxy and teaching a spaceship how to make a proper cup of tea.

And did anyone actually make a reservation?

Follow Arthur Dent's galactic (mis)adventures in the rest of the trilogy with five parts: Life, the Universe and Everything, So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish, and Mostly Harmless.

Martin Freeman's performance is simply superb! The story was not as entertaining at the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. However, Douglas Adam's characteristic writing style is still funny in parts.

Not as great as Hitchhiker's, still entertaining

Liked the first part more. The voice acting could have been better specially for Zaphod.
Still a worthwhile listen.

Overall a good listen.

Good reading by Martin freeman especially loved Max's voice! ( though the volume modulation was too high and low for Zaphods voice) ( no offense I love Freeman!). Story could have been better I feel, though I can't point out exactly what was missing 😅

good reading, story could be better !

Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy started with a great storyline and imagination and continued in this book too. Although the connections between different events and silly little things sometimes got lost in details, this one was thoroughly enjoyable. The narration could've been better though. I love Martin Freeman and his acting but his voice acting lacks the depth and variety Stephen Fry provided.

Enjoyable but a bit lost into digression

Martin Freeman lends a unique voice to each character and wonderfully narrates Arthur Dent's journey across the galaxy.

An earth-man, his unearthly friends and a robot.
