Ruskin Bond
About this listen
Tall and sturdy, their leaves gently rustling in the wind, trees form the backbone of life on Earth. They never discriminate between life forms while welding them from the heat or showering them with their bounty. But these providers of life have always been taken for granted, chopped down or burnt to ashes to accommodate the March of modernity. In this book, Ruskin Bond gives a humane touch to these gentle giants, from the legendary Willows, who do more than ‘weep’, to the godlike deodars, who are forever trying to reach the heavens to live up to their name. Through captivating quotations, The Trees of Dehra will remind you that endangering these silent chroniclers of the past will endanger the future of our planet too.

Ruskin Bond - A true nature loving writer
Ruskin Bond is truly a nature lover. For, his books go deep in the heart - these are heartfelt. If you love the morning sun, chirping birds, morning dew, small gestures of animals, trees and their whisperings, and a first-awe-inspiring smell of drenched soil, then Ruskin Bonds books are for you.
Recently I was going from Roorkee to Haridwar. Initially we rode through an 8 km long stretch with leafy trees on both sides and then the hell broken. We met a 4 lane newly built road without even a single tree! And to add fuel to the fire, has to pay a toll at every 50 km! Really, newly built 4 lane/6 lane/expressways are nightmares to nature lovers. They just give you a headache and helplessness.
On such barbaric roads, one recalls books like Roads to Mussoorie, A book of simple living, The Trees of Dehra and so many others to refresh his/her mind.
