Poe invented modern suspense. Each emotion that draws and assails human spirit is found in his work. You cannot read a horror novel or see a tragic operatic production without seeing Poe in the shadows. Whether in sing-song rhyme or austere prose, Poe tells pithy and terrifying tales.
