Publisher's Summary
When celebrated writer Joan Didion’s life was altered forever, she wrote a new chapter. In this adaptation of her iconic memoir, Didion transforms the story of the shattering loss of her husband and their daughter into a one-woman play performed by Tony Award winner Vanessa Redgrave, who originated the role on Broadway in 2007. Written with Didion’s trademark style of cool observation, The Year of Magical Thinking weaves back and forth in time, taking listeners on a poignant journey through heartbreak, grief, and resilience. It’s an unforgettable theatrical experience that resonates with anyone who has ever loved.

Touching story about grief
This is a heartfelt memoir of the authors loss of husband. Some of the lines are very profound and poetic. I heard many amazing things about this book, and went into it with hype. Unfortunately it didn’t match up to my high expectations. Nevertheless, a touching book about loss, life, life and grief.

Unclear title
I think the listing of this audiobook should make it more clear that this is not the original full-length book. Rather it is the script of a play based on the book.

cried to myself on a plane
a remarkable examination of grief: the expectation of it vs the reality, exhuming the irrational, airing out the unspeakable.
this made me beyond grateful for the health of my loved ones. i had to pause and write about my cat who was asleep on the plane next to me without so much as a peep. in stark contrast to didion's ailing family, this baby kitten was the model of health. i am left with an appreciation for all i am yet to experience with family and friends, the conversations ahead of us still and the grand scope of things i will come to cherish when they are no longer beside me.
thank you, joan

Heartbreaking
An autobiographical work reflecting on the deaths of Didion’s husband and daughter. It’s tragic and beautifully written - gives a lot to think about on the experience of loss and grief

Not Interesting
I didn't like the narrator's voice. The story is not bad but hard to understand.
