Drink Baking Soda! Author in jail now
I decided to read this book to understand what's the true deal of alkaline foods and what's the science behind it. The book started off fine with the logic that our body is Alkaline by design and acidic in function and suddenly blood became the most important organ in body! It suggested drinking alkaline water by adding baking soda. When it started limiting dairy, sugar and processed foods, it was acceptable. but then the restrictions on Fruits, complex carbs and even rice got me wondering how was this diet acceptable. on further search, I found that the author is a false doctor and he started treating cancer patients in his resort with an alkaline diet. he was then sentenced to jail. Now the need to eat a diet rich in local and seasonal fruits and veggies, balanced by good quality complex carbs would also result in good health. If nature really wanted us to live on an alkaline diet, it would have massively impacted civilizations who ate rice and wheat for survival (hello India and China). I left the book halfway. I don't know how it goes later, but this is not a sustainable diet for anyone.
