About this listen

So you think you're a Buddhist? Think again. Tibetan Buddhist master Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse, one of the most creative and innovative lamas teaching today, throws down the gauntlet to the Buddhist world, challenging common misconceptions, stereotypes, and fantasies. With wit and irony, Khysentse urges listeners to move beyond the superficial trappings of Buddhism - beyond the romance with beads, incense, or exotic robes - straight to the heart of what the Buddha taught.

My best listen of the year (2019)

Just an exceptional book, exceptionally narrated. The hypocrisy of society is laid bare and doors are opened to what is true - or at least, towards the path to truth.

Basics first approach

Sticks to the very basics of Buddha like Impermanence, Interdependence and endless change of all things, emotions, views. But emphasis on harmony and living practice in simple enough lingo. Useful for those already briefed.

Makes you think

Struggled to finish it. Perhaps it was the lack of clarity in the content, the narrator or my own ineptitude but I couldn't grasp the 4 truths properly.
