Publisher's Summary

Everyone knows that timing is everything. But we don't know much about timing itself. Our lives are a never-ending stream of 'when' decisions: when to start a business, schedule a class, get serious about a person. Yet we make those decisions based on intuition and guesswork. Timing, it's often assumed, is an art; in When, Pink shows that timing is, in fact, a science.

Drawing on a rich trove of research from psychology, biology and economics, Pink reveals how best to live, work and succeed. How can we use the hidden patterns of the day to build the ideal schedule? Why do certain breaks dramatically improve student test scores? How can we turn a stumbling beginning into a fresh start? Why should we avoid going to the hospital in the afternoon? Why is singing in time with other people as good for us as exercise? And what is the ideal time to quit a job, switch careers or get married? In When, Pink distils cutting-edge research and data on timing and synthesizes them into a fascinating narrative packed with irresistible stories and practical takeaways that give listeners compelling insights into how we can live richer, more engaged lives.

A wholesome book for the working individual

For me the first chapter was not that impressive and it felt like a collection of weird phenomenon but I listened for a bit more and the more I listened the more I understood the structure of the book. It takes you from how you behave at the beginning of a task to the end and later talks about group work, all of which can be instantly applied to ones life. If nothing else, it gives you a bit of self realisation.

Very insightful and thought provoking

Dan Pink is one of my favourite authors of all time. The amount of research he does is mind boggling. Definitely a listen as Dan himself narrates it.

When should you read this book? Yesterday!

One of the best narrators I've heard! Not many people can write so well and read it with the same enthusiasm. Few few books cover the concept of time from a social lens and this book is as good as it is rare.

There is always some thing new to learn in Dan Pink's books. Lots of new lessons and hacks to integrate into your lifestyle. It helps you boost your productivity and creativity. The middle chapters seem like drag but it's the middle what can you expect?! Overall a good read!

Informative but not inspiring

The book has a lot of information. But it doesn't really inspire you to do it according to the researches. Too many lists.
