Absolutely Serene

I listened to this every morning this week, and it was the perfect addition to that hour of my day! I was worried that with the language it carries I might need to refer to the book, but the recording is done masterfully! It's clear and has proper notes emphasis (punctuation and emotion) and creates the most serene image of the story!

You know how it ends but it still hits you like a truck.

A classic. Love and lorn, have existed in all centuries and periods. still relevant today as it was 200 years ago.

"Oh Nastenka..."

As the story progresses, you catch yourself dreaming with the narrator, your heart warming up with the narrator, your heart breaking with the narrator and alas, finding your back to the homely solitude with the narrator. Just about two hours it takes to wrench your little heart.

the climax was soo out of the blue.

Almost every line of the novel seemed to be crafted so beautifully and amicably. One of the best instances of unrequited love that I ever came across. A masterpiece without a doubt.

a brilliant and beautiful read

Dostoyevsky wrote yet another incel but this time he is mildly likable (I genuinely like Dostoyevsky). The prose is absolutely beautiful and distracts from batshit crazy things he is saying.

heartbreaking 💔

It was a great listen. In the usual dostoevskian fashion with monologues that are beautiful and which has a special power to draw you in.

Heartbreaking yet somehow redeeming.

Dostoevsky's writing transcends description; his exploration of human emotions and portrayal of them in a heart-wrenching manner is truly exceptional.

Story and language

The language, writing and story were just perfect. Narration involved a bit extra drama at some points which wasn’t the way I would have liked it,
