About this listen
A powerful, blazingly honest memoir: the story of an 1100-mile solo hike that broke down a young woman reeling from catastrophe and built her back up again. At 22, Cheryl Strayed thought she had lost everything. After her mother's death, her family scattered and her own marriage was destroyed. Four years later, with nothing more to lose, she decided to hike the Pacific Crest Trail from the Mojave Desert through California and Oregon to Washington State - alone. She had no experience as a long-distance hiker, and the trail was little more than an idea: vague, outlandish, and full of promise. But it was a promise of piecing together a life that had come undone. Strayed faces rattlesnakes and bears, intense heat and record snowfalls, and both the beauty and intense loneliness of the trail.
Wild vividly captures the terrors and pleasures of forging ahead against all odds on a journey that maddened, strengthened, and ultimately healed her.

Hitchhiking the PCT!
Cheryl has been a wonderful hiker. Both emotionally and physically. The journey of getting lost and found was intriguing. It had trauma, love, betrayal, fear, joy and sense of achievement. Life is not about the materialistic things but about the experiences. The experiences which bring you closer to your inner self. Forgiveness was another point which stayed with me. Forgiving and seeking forgiveness had brought peace and clarity in the authors life.
I felt the 'Wild' PCT hike was worth it!

Fantastic, Inspiring, Engaging
Fantastic, Inspiring, Engaging.
It's like I got to walk alongside Cheryl on her monumental solo journey and witnessed her finding herself bit by bit as the story unravelled.
A story I'll come back to again.

A beautiful companion
I discovered this book when I myself started on a soul searching journey - an attempt to find my truth. The story resonated with me instantly and then became a read I would turn to every morning during my morning walk. I enjoyed every turn - all the highs and lows, almost as if I was with Cheryl...or I was Cheryl. The spectacular narration makes the book and the experience real and highly relatable. I loved it from start to finish.
The last line of the book shall stay with me - "how wild it is to let it be"..indeed!
Deeply grateful to Cheryl, Laurel and Audible for this great treat.
