Publisher's Summary

Penguin presents the audiobook edition of Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo, read by Mozhan Marno.

She will become a legend, but first she is Diana, Princess of the Amazons. And her fight is just beginning....

Diana is desperate to prove herself to her warrior sisters. But when the opportunity comes, she throws away her chance at glory and breaks Amazon law to save a mere mortal, Alia Keralis. With this single heroic act, Diana may have just doomed the world.

Alia is a Warbringer - a descendant of the infamous Helen of Troy, fated to bring about an age of bloodshed and misery. Diana and Alia will face an army of enemies, mortal and divine, determined to destroy or possess the Warbringer.

To save the world, they must stand side by side against the tide of war.

Worth Re Listening To

1.Plot :

•I hadn't been acquainted with the author , Leigh Bardugo prior to this book and while I did like her writing style and evocative descriptions ,I may not pick up other books penned by her (Some of them are fantasy best sellers ).It took a while to get through the first few chapters but as the plot picked up the pace it became increasingly addictive .

•It's a straightforward coming of age story written from a female protagonist's perspective with it's fair share of action and suspense .

•Loop Holes :(Spoiler Alert !)
It is not clearly mentioned why the war gods and goddesses are attracted to Aliyah or why they possess Nim and Theo . I was hoping for that loose end to be tied up at the novel's end but was disappointed that no explanation was forthcoming .Speaking of which , the ending with it's final fight scene and denouement was ....lack lustre .An avid 'action ' enthusiast may even deem i to be quite un satisfying . While I understand why Jason didn't get the glorious demise he would have liked , a more wholesome ending and (exciting )battle would have been more fitting .

2. Characters :
The primary protagonists Diana (Wonder Woman ) is perfectly portrayed with pages being devoted to her character development . This applies to the other protagonists Aliyah , Nim and Theo to a much lesser extent although Aliyah is depicted with far more nuance than the other two .(Who at times feel like unidimensional caricatures rather than fully fleshed out characters )

3.Narrator :
The strength of this audio book is respectfully borne by the stellar narrator, Mozhan Marno .Her voice was soothing but also altered dramatically depending on the context and characters she was voicing .It reminded me of the voice actress for the animated version of Justice League's Wonder Woman (Susan Eisenberg ).Regal and Calm .I'd go so far as to say it's the only reason I'm listening to this rather than reading the book .And also why I'd like to re listen today it intermittently.

To sum it up ,it's a decent nook .But more than that , it's an excellent AudioBook.
Definitely recommended 👍🏼
