 【解説】小さい頃からレンズや鏡に異常な興味を抱いていた青年は、凹凸その他様々なレンズや鏡を使い、異様な観察や実験を繰り返すようになった。断末魔で苦しむ蚤の姿、部屋いっぱいに蠢くおぞましい人間の顔。首、手、胴が空中を漂う光景・・・。彼の異様な実験癖は病的なものとなり、ある日遂に、彼の身に異常が起こるという「鏡地獄」。汽車の中で出会った不気味な風采の男が持つ押絵には、まるで生きているかのような男女が描かれている。古風な洋服姿の白髪男と、彼にしなだれかかる肉体が生気を放つ美しい娘の取り合わせ・・・・。幸せそうな女に比して、男は多くの皺の底で苦悶の相を浮かべていた。押絵を持つ男が異様な事情を語る「押絵と旅する男」。
