Dr. L.'s Healthy Practices' Podcast

Written by: Dr. Ivor Livingston
  • Summary

  • This podcast covers a variety of information concerning healthy practices, including, but not limited to mental health, physical health, self-improvement and personal development. While I will, at times, be the main speaker on the podcast, most of the time the narrator on the podcast will be a team member from my parent organization - StressHealth Solutions International (or SHSI). That said, I am referring to the structure of the podcast as more of a "Narrative Podcast." For the most past, the podcast will consist mainly of a narrative introduced and presented by one of the team members at SHSI, and it will not have or follow the more traditional format of one-on-one interviews. The decision was made by the team that this format allows for greater and more frequent coverage of a variety of health and health related information. You can listen to both present and past podcasts by visiting our website at: drlhealthypracticespodcast.buzzsprout.com. Also, if there is an interest in learning more about informational activities associated with Stress Health Solutions International, please visit our parent website at: StressHealthSolutions.com. As a very important disclaimer, please note that the primary purpose of this podcast is to provide general educational information on health and related subjects. The podcast does not constitute advice or services and all listeners should consult with their medical and other qualified personnel for advice concerning medical and medical related actions and services as needed. Thanks, Dr. Livingston (Dr.L.)

  • Procrastination: Key Reason for Job Overwhelm & Burnout
    Jul 19 2024

Do you often feel overwhelmed and stressed at work? If so, you're not alone. Many people struggle with job overwhelm and burnout, and one of the key reasons for this is procrastination.

Procrastination is a major contributor to job overwhelm and burnout, as it leads to a cycle of stress, anxiety, and frustration. When we put off tasks, we often create a backlog of work that becomes increasingly difficult to manage. This can cause us to feel overwhelmed, as we struggle to keep up with the demands of our job, and eventually leads to burnout.

The root cause of this cycle is often rooted in our thoughts and beliefs about ourselves, our work, and our ability to succeed. For example, perfectionism can cause us to put off tasks, as we fear that our work will not be good enough. Similarly, fear of failure, rejection, or criticism can make us avoid challenging tasks, as we worry about the consequences of not performing perfectly.

    Jul 17 2024

Have you ever set a goal for yourself, only to find that you just can't seem to make any progress towards it? Do you find yourself constantly putting off the tasks that will help you achieve your goals? If so, you're not alone! Many people struggle with procrastination and find that it keeps them from achieving their goals.

Procrastination is a sneaky beast. It can masquerade as a helpful friend, telling you that you can always do the task tomorrow. Or that you need a break from all the hard work. Or you’ll start on it after this show is over, only to still be glued to the screen three hours later.

But in reality, procrastination is keeping you from reaching your full potential. It's holding you back from the success and happiness that you deserve.

  • Low Self-Esteem, and Procrastination Being Perfect Partners.
    Jul 15 2024

Imagine this: you've been putting off a task for weeks, maybe even months. You know it needs to be done, but every time you think about it, you just feel overwhelmed and discouraged. But one day, you finally muster up the courage to tackle it head-on. And you know what? You knock it out of the park! Not only did you complete the task, but you did it with ease and grace.

That's the beauty of overcoming procrastination – it's a self-esteem boost waiting to happen. When you procrastinate, you're essentially telling yourself that you're not capable of doing something. But when you take action and complete that task, you're proving to yourself that you are capable. And that feels pretty darn good, doesn't it?
