After Emperor Rajendra-I, his son 'Rajadhiraj -I' was his successor. After coming to the throne, 'Rajadhiraj- I' had to face fierce rebellions from all sides. Chola Emperor Rajadhiraja-I unfortunately, died in 1052-53 AD while fighting in the battle of 'Koppam', leaving Raja 'Rajendra- II' to become the second Chola Emperor. Rajendra-II strove to maintain the power and prestige of the Chola dynasty, yet the 'Chola-Chalukya' struggle continued even during his reign.
