  • Summary

  • One of George Bernard Shaw's best known plays, Pygmalion was a rousing success on the London and New York stages which also became an entertaining motion picture and a great hit with its musical version, My Fair Lady.

In this Audible Original dramatisation Stephen Fry stars as phonetics expert Professor Henry Higgins who takes on a bet that in a matter of months he can transform cockney flower seller Eliza Doolittle, played by Daisy Edgar Jones, into a woman as poised and well-spoken as a duchess.

Shaw’s tale of love and the class system is performed by Tia Bannon, Tallulah Bond, Joanna David Daisy Edgar-Jones, Stephen Fry, Tom Glenister, Celia Imrie, Sir Derek Jacobi and Timothy Spall.

A nice performance

A nice performance from the cast. The 1938 movie was also nice to watch with a slightly different ending (of course for the audience to have a nice feeling at the end). The end commentary (30 min) from the audio book is also good which gives more information about the book.

Not the movie

I was so influenced by the movie that the real story came to me as such a surprise! I never expected this, though I do love this ending as well. Nothing like Self respect and common sense.
