  • Kegels and the Pelvic Floor with Becky Allen
    Dec 27 2022

Dr. Becky Allen is the founder of Genesis PT & Wellness, a pelvic floor therapy practice in DFW. Becky has a great passion for women throughout every stage of life. She believes they deserve a higher standard of care. It was this passion, as well as the realization of the gaping hole in the field of Women’s Healthcare, that inspired Becky’s plan for Genesis PT & Wellness. She created a safe space for women to receive high quality, specialized Pelvic Floor Therapy that is unique to their specific needs. She’s passionate about treating every person as a whole, not as just an injury, pain or dysfunction, and has ensured each employee she has hired along the way holds this same value. Becky and her colleagues utilize a holistic approach to pelvic floor therapy, meeting you where you are now and walking alongside you on your new journey.

Earning a Bachelor's of Science in Kinesiology and a minor in Psychology, she went on to attain a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Texas Woman’s University in Dallas. After attainting her Doctoral degree, Becky applied and was accepted to Texas Women’s University’s Post Professional Certificate of Advanced Studies in Women’s Health Physical Therapy program. She completed this rigorous year-long bout of coursework and now holds the Certificate of Advanced Studies in Women’s Health Physical Therapy. Becky considers herself a lifelong learner; she holds a certification in Functional Dry Needling, and has taken other courses such as "Athletes & Pelvic Rehabilitation," "Visceral Mobilization of the Urinary System," "Treating and Training the Female Runner," and "Pelvis Restoration." She also is the founder of The Pelvic Powerhouse, a clinical and business coaching platform where she is teaching pelvic floor therapists across the country how to treat the pelvic floor through a holistic lens, as well as scale their pelvic health practices so they can live their best life!

  • Pelvic Floor Health with Peter Lap
    Dec 6 2022

Peter qualified as a PT a decade or so ago after a change in career from project management to personal training. Quickly establishing himself as one of Scotland’s most prolific fitness writers, he has contributed to various national and international magazines. Since qualifying as a Pre- and post-natal exercise specialist, he has become one of Britain’s leading post-partum fitness experts. He has worked with BBC Scotland and various parenting and fitness websites. He started Healthy Postnatal Body (HPNB) in response to emails from post-partum women outside his local Edinburgh area who found that expert and affordable post-partum care was not available in their area. In addition to this, the online exercise programs available were too expensive and didn’t offer any expert support or guidance. Over 80% of women suffer from post-partum health issues that can be healed with the right guidance and exercise. He believes post-natal exercise advice should be affordable, if not free, for all. Pelvic-floor issues, diastasis recti, post-natal back pain, and posture issues are too common and affect many women. It is simply unacceptable for post-natal recovery programs to cost hundreds of £ per year. So, ever since then, he has been banging this particular drum to anyone who would listen and some who wouldn’t 😊

    Topics Discussed in this Episode:

    • Pelvic Floor Health
    • Diastasis Recti
    • Women's Health Advocacy
